Our Story
It was love at first sight for us! Just two Mums strolling through the school playground when one day we decided to strike up a conversation! We hit it off immediately, began to discuss our passions and careers, discovering that we both love all things Beauty. That's when we were inspired to start our own business. Somewhere people can go to have everything done in one place! We couldn't find another business like ours anywhere which made us realise there really was a gap in the market. Ideas started to flow whilst we were paddle boarding one summers evening - and well, the rest is history!
Our Name
Kristy (Monana) thinks Kate (Phoebe) has a stunning resemblance to Phoebe Dynevor (she played Daphne in Bridgerton) and Kate believed Kristy to be her “Monana’ who is a character from F.R.I.E.N.D.S that steals Monicas’ credit card and uses it to pay to do lots of fun activities that Monica would never have the balls to do! Not that Kristy has ever stolen Kate’s card but more that she’s always up for a fun adventure with Kate! Phoebe is also the name of a character in F.R.I.E.N.D.S; a show which we both love and so the name just fits, Phoebe & Monana. Captures us both, two people behind the name and a cute little backstory to it. Job done!
We love to work with local businesses and support women in business. When it came to choosing our branding photographer for our website, we immediately thought of Annie and Katie from @not_another_headshot. Kate (Phoebe)
I have been studying Beauty since leaving school (many moons ago) as it has always been my greatest passion. Leaving college with my NVQ level 2 & 3 qualifications. 8 years ago I decided to do a lash extension course and since then I have also trained in Gel nails with The Gel Bottle Academy. I make sure I attend courses regularly to keep up with current trends and any developments in the ever changing world of Beauty. I am a Mum to three beautiful children and count myself very lucky to have a career that allows me to work my own hours and from home so I never miss a beat!
Kristy (Monana)
I trained as a Theatre and Media make up artist/hairstylist around 9 years ago qualifying VTCT Level 3 diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-up (QCF) . Before taking a break to have my children, I worked as a make up artist on Theatre shows such as Cats and Into the Woods. The Theatre and TV schedule doesn’t really work alongside family life so I haven’t stepped back into that. I now concentrate on Event, Occasion and Bridal Hair and Make-up, which I am loving! I am a big believer in looking good and feeling even better! If I can be a small part of making someone feel good then I’ve done my job.
